Chargers over Cougars 15-12 in OIA D2 Varsity Football

Tex Kang scored on a 9 yard touchdown run and QB Christian Tielu rushed for the 2-point conversion with 4:43 remaining in the fourth quarter to lift the Pearl City Chargers over the visiting Kaiser Cougars 15-12 last night at Edwin Bino Neves Stadium.

Kang picked up 31 yards on 6 carries with one touchdown. Tielu completed 10 of 23 with one touchdown and one INT.

Kaiser starting QB Koa Tom completed 11 of 27 for 161 yards with one touchdown and one INT. Dre Falls hauled in 5 catches for 126 yards and one touchdown for Kaiser.

The Chargers improve to 2-0 while the Cougars are even at 1-1 in league standings.

Both teams return to action next week with Kaiser hosting St. Francis on Friday, August 24, 6:00pm and the Chargers will take on McKinley at Roosevelt on Saturday, August 25, 6:30pm.

THIRD QUARTER

After a scoreless first half, Kaiser got on the scoreboard on a 26 yard touchdown pass from QB Koa Tom to Dre Falls with 6:11 on the clock in the quarter. 2-point converssion run failed.

Pearl City took a 7-6 lead at 1:45 of the third quarter on a 14 yard pass from QB Christian Tielu to Thomas King and a successful PAT by kicker Kyle Hyun.

FOURTH QUARTER

Kaiser made it 12-7 at 10:21 of the quarter on a one yard touchdown run by Koa Tom. 2-pont conversion run failed.

The Chargers powered their way back into the lesd on Tex Kang's 9 yard touchdown run with 4:43 remaining in the game, QB Christian Tielu rushed in the 2-point conversion to put the Chargers up 15-12.
