The Pearl City Chargers improved to 3-0 after blanking the McKinley Tigers 41-0 in OIA D2 varsity football played on Friday, September 7 at Pearl City High School.
Charger QB Christian Tielu threw for 161 yards, completing 10/20 passes with 3 TD's. Tielu also rushed 8 times for 82 yards and a TD.
Charger receiving: Jordan Oshiro 2 catches, 55 yards, 1 TD; Thomas King, 2 catches, 44 yards, 1 TD; Po’okela Moses-Espanto, 1 catch, 21 yards, 1 TD; Stanton Hong 1 catch, 16 yards; Herbert Hallers 2 catches, 13 yards.
McKinley QB Jayden Victorino-Jay completed 5/10 passes for 76 yards.
McKinley’s M. Camacho led all rushers in the ball game picking up 162 yards on 23 carries.
Pearl City outgained McKinley by only 3 yards of net offense at 283-281.
Pearl City DB Melanio Oandasan scored the Chargers first touchdown of the ball game with an electrifying 76 yard pick 6 at 3:01 on the clock in the first quarter. Kyle Hyun tacked on the PAT to give the Chargers an early 7-0 lead.
The Chargers return to action on Friday, September 14 against Kalaheo at Kailua High School.
