Chargers shut down, ground Falcons 35-0, move to 5-0 in league play

The Pearl City Chargers improved to 5-0 after defeating the visiting Kalani Falcons last night in Oahu Interscholastic Association Division 2 varsity football played Edwin Bino Neves Stadium. The Chargers scored 21 third quarter points and 14 points in the fourth quarter to pile up 35 unanswered second half points. Pearl City running back Shayden Mcmoore broke the 0-0 scoreless tie on a 13 yard rushing touchdown early in the third quarter.

Charger QB Makana Canyon passed for 89 yards, completing 6/8 with 3 touchdowns. Christian Tielu completed 5/11 for 43 yards. Thomas King led the Chargers receiving core with 4 catches for 67 yards and 1 touchdown. Micah Quillopo-Jamile, 3 catches for 30 yards; Herbert Hallers, 1 catch for 17 yards and 1 touchdown; Tex Kang, 1 catch for 11 yards and 1 touchdown; Stanton Hong, 1 catch for 3 yards.

Tex Kang led the Chargers on the ground rushing for 68 yards on 12 carries. Po’okela Moses-Espanto, 67 yards on 7 carries; Mikey Ortiz-Ma'ae, 36 Yards on 4 carries and 1 touchdown. Shayden Mcmoore, 13 yards and 1 touchdown.

Kody Kikuyama recorded another INT on the season for the stellar Charger D.

Falcon QB Nicholas Sakamoto passed for 112 yards completing 15/19 passes. Jerick Robinson caught 5 passes for 60 yards to lead the Falcons.

The Chargers (5-0, 5-2 overall) return to action at home on Saturday, September 29 in an Inter-League D2 match-up against PAC-5 (2-2, 2-2 overall) of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu at Edwin Bino Neves Stadium.
