PCHS Athletics receive $800.00 Pearl City Shopping Center check donation

I was truly honored this morning to represent the Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants Association in presenting an $800.00 check donation in support of the Pearl City High School Athletic Department.  A portion of the donation will go towards supporting the PCHS Cheer Team who will be traveling next week to compete in the 2019 USA Cheer National Competition in Anaheim, California. The donation will help the team purchase competition uniform shirts and hair ribbons for 16 girls.

PCHS Athletic Director, Reid Shigemasa along with PCHS Cheerleading Program Head Coach Raenette Yuen, and three senior cheer team members who will be competing next week in Anaheim, Lauren Medina, Alisha Gleason and Charleah Kobuke accepted the donation check on Thursday in the school gymnasium.

“We’re competing at the USA Cheer National Competition in Anaheim, California. We’re competing against 35 teams from all over the United States, “  said Raenette Yuen, Head Coach, PCHS Cheerleading Program. “We are the only Hawaii team competing in the medium intermediate division. Sacred Hearts is competing in the intermediate division.  We’re excited and can’t wait to go! Thank you to our girls for wanting to be here, and Principal Joseph Halfmann and Athletic Director Reid Shigemasa for letting us do this. Also, thank you to our parents for their support, and to the Pearl City Shopping Center and MyPearlCity.com for their financial support.”

“I went on this trip two years ago and it’s actually a lot of fun,” said Alisha Gleason, Senior, PCHS Cheer Team. “It really brought all of our girls together as one team even way before the trip even started. During our practices every day we push really hard because we want to be the best that we can be and really place this year. The younger girls really look up to us as seniors because we’re their role models. They really try to push if we push.”

The PCHS Cheer Team will be competing at the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 23.

Good luck Lady Chargers! Have a great trip!
