Congratulations Pearl City’s Jordan Taamu! Newly signed Houston Texans QB

Aug 7, 2019 | PC Sports

I would like send very special congratulations to Pearl City’s Jordan Taamu who signed with the Houston Texans today as a reserve QB after Texan back up QB AJ McCarron went down with a thumb injury. Jordan enters the NFL following an amazing career as the starting QB for Ole Miss of the SEC in 2019.

Jordan is only the third Hawaii born QB to make it to the NFL. He joins Joe Francis who was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 5th round, 51st overall pick in the 1958 NFL draft, and Marcus Mariota who was a  1st round, second overall pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2015 NFL draft.

Pearl City Chargers Connection

Jordan was an all-state player of the year as the Pearl City High School Chargers starting QB were he graduated in 2015. Joe Francis served as the head coach of the Chargers football program in the 70’s and 80’s. Francis also coached Jordan’s high school coach Robin Kami who is currently the Chargers head coach.

If history and fate repeat itself, they will play an integral role in Jordan’s future as a QB, this time in the NFL, where will once again have the opportunity to prove that his talent and skills comes from his heart and dedication to being the best athlete, leader and person, on and off the field.

Congratulations to the Taamu-Perifanos ohana. Jordan’s success starts with his amazing parents and ohana who love, support, and guide him which he passes on to others that he touches in his life.

Ironically, Jordan and the Houston Texans will face Joe Francis’s former team the Green Bay Packers this weekend to kick-off the 2019 NFL preseason. Francis played back-up QB to NFL Hall of Famer Bart Starr and was coached by NFL legendary Green Bay Packers Head Coach Vince Lombardi from 58-60.
