Hawaiian Electric utility work to continue in ‘Aiea-Hālawa Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Frida

Work scheduled 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Hawaiian Electric crews will continue utility pole upgrades in Ê»Aiea and Hālawa,Monday – Tuesday (Nov. 9-10), and Thursday – Friday (Nov. 12-13) to improve reliability in the area. The work, scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., will require crews at two locations on three of the four days with lane closuresand restricted parking in the work zones. Monday, Nov. 9 – The northbound lane of Hālawa Heights Road will be closed between Hālawa Drive and Mikioi Place, and the eastbound lane of Ê»Aiea Heights Drive will be closed between Hakina Street and Pōhai Place. Traffic will be contraflowed.

Tuesday, Nov. 10 – A section of Lalawai Drive will be closed in both directions off Kaholi Place, and only local traffic will be allowed. The right, eastbound lane of Ulune Street will be closed between Hālawa Heights Road and Kahuapāʻani Street.

Thursday, Nov. 12 – Both directions of Nāpuanani Road will be closed between Ê»Aiea Heights Drive and Lauole Street with only local traffic allowed.

Friday, Nov. 13 – The southbound lane of Hālawa Heights Road will be closed between Kaʻākau Place and Hālawa Drive, while the northbound lane of Hālawa Heights Road will be closed between Kealaluina Drive and PuÊ»umakani Street. Traffic will be contraflowed.

Safety measures include barricades to mark restricted parking zones and traffic cones to mark work areas. Flagmen and special duty police will direct traffic. Motorists should drive with caution when approaching and passing the work zones, plan ahead for traffic delays, and seek alternate routes when possible.
