Work scheduled 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Hawaiian Electric crews will be upgrading utility poles in ʻAiea on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 16-17, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., as part of ongoing reliability improvements in the area. The work will require lane closures and restricted parking in the vicinity.

On Monday, Nov. 16, the work will close the right, eastbound lane of Moanalua Road between Nalopaka Place and Kauhale Street. Also, the southbound lane of Kauhale Street will be closed between Moanalua Road and Mikalemi Street. Traffic will be contraflowed in both areas.

On Tuesday, Nov. 17, the work will close both directions of Upapalu Drive from the intersection of Laulima and Uahi streets to the end of the cul de sac, with only local traffic allowed.

Safety measures include barricades to mark restricted parking zones and traffic cones to mark work areas. Flagmen and special duty police will provide traffic control. Motorists should drive with caution when approaching and passing the work zones, plan ahead for traffic delays, and seek alternate routes when possible.
