Call for Entries: Pearl City High School alumni organizations launch Excellence with Honor: 50 Years of Charger Pride Book Cover Design Contest

In commemoration of Pearl City High School’s golden anniversary in 2021, PCHS 808 Ohana in partnership with PCHS Alumni Association invites the community to participate in the Excellence with Honor: 50 Years of Charger Pride Book Cover Design Contest.

To celebrate this milestone achievement, the nonprofit group PCHS 808 Ohana has been working on a special anniversary book featuring a collection of essays, history, and short stories created by Pearl City High School alumni and faculty from the ’70s, 80’s through the present day.

“Since its beginnings in 1971, more than 25,000 students have graduated from Pearl City High School. This contest is a chance for those who share our love for PCHS to get involved in commemorating our alma mater together, even while we are apart physically,” said Joanne Ing, Retired Pearl City High School teacher and member of PCHS 808 Ohana.

The contest is open to students, alumni, current and former faculty, the staff of Pearl City High School as well as community members. Digital designs must reflect the theme of Excellence with Honor – 50 Years of Charger Pride.

Entries will be accepted between February 22 and March 22 at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time.

Judging will be conducted by PCHS 808 Ohana, the volunteer committee responsible for curating the content of the book since 2018.

The winner of the design contest will be announced in late March and receive a copy of the limited-edition book. All participants will also be entered for a chance to win a copy of the anniversary book.
