Lady Chargers showered with love and respect on senior night

Apr 26, 2021 | PC Sports

The Pearl City Lady Chargers Class of 2021 were bid a heartfelt Aloha on Sunday by the Chargers ohana as they watched their beloved Lady Chargers play their final match of their careers against the Leilehua Lady Mules.

An emotional Senior Night Celebration followed the match as the players were draped with lei and congratulatory goodies and hugs from teammates, coaches, and family. Pearl City Charger coaches Dayne and Sheri Teves hosted the match and senior celebration at their 808 Athletic Club in Kapolei.

It was a wonderful and memorable opportunity for the seniors to take to the court together for their career finale as they played their hearts out and left everything on the court in front of their families who will always be their biggest fans and supporters.

I am very honored for the opportunity to sit down with  the Lady Charger seniors after the match to get their comments  regarding the adversity that they faced to overcome being physically out of in-person learning at school and the cancellation of the regular season due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. The seniors also expressed their feelings of gratitude to their coaches, teammates, family and friends throughout their volleyball careers.

#1 Noe Feliciano

“This year was kind of hard because I couldn’t see anyfriends and it was hard to be alone, but I’d like to thank my club coaches for allowing us to have practice and still be in the game. Thank you to coach Dayne our high school coach because he set up this senior night for us and it’s like a once in a lifetime opportunity. Also, thank you to our parents for taking us to our practices.”

#14 Emma Harada-Suaava

“It’s been a rough year because we didn’t get our regular season. I’m thankful for our coaches and teammates and parents.”

#5 Makayla Kahakai-Niihau

“To be a senior, its kind a weird and a little hard not being able to see my family and friends in school. I want thank my teammates, my friends and my family that I get to see once in a while. I want to also thank my club coaches for letting us practice and getting our practices in and the tournaments that they try and make. Thank you to our school coaches Sheri and Dayne for making this senior night for us because we didn’t get anything, and I want to thank my family for all coming, especially my mom because she does everything for me.”

#9 Kenya Glenn

“This year honestly, without the whole entire school year has been emotional for me only because, just like everybody else, they were kinda like I’m going to wait for senior year to do it. I feel like I missed out on a lot of experiences, but at the same time, I’m a sole believer that everything happens for a reason. I’m very grateful for the free time that I had to work on myself, get better, and reach out to colleges and prepare for the next level. So I’m very thankful for the coaches, coach Dayne and Coach Sheri for allowing me to have my senior night and for me to play one last game in this jersey. That means so much to me because a senior night is something that I always wanted. I wanted to thank the parents and coaches from my club that allowed me to have the opportunity to play and just be there for me throughout this entire unique experience. I’m very thankful for that.”

#4 Siva Siale

“It kinda sucks this year because we didn’t get to have a season, but today was really good even though we didn’t have the outcome we wanted. I would like to thank my family and friends and my coaches for letting this happen.”

Sheri Teves, Pearl City Lady Chargers Assistant Coach

“Although, Pearl City girls Volleyball season had been sidelined, I continue to be proud of these amazing players. They have grown into solid volleyball players and more importantly have become very respectable young adults.  The future is very bright for these 5 seniors and I hope to see them back in the gym one day to give back to their alma mater and the Pearl City Community. “

I would like wish the Lady Chargers a bright future and to let you know that you will be truly missed. Upon graduation, your legacy of accomplishments will serve to inspire future generations of Charger student athletes to reach while building on the pinnacle of success that you have achieved in your four years at Pearl City High School.

You will forever represent the “Heart of a Champion” filled with “Charger Pride”.

ALOHA SENIORS!

Congratulations to the Pearl City Lady Chargers Volleyball
