Pearl City Chargers Baseball, Boys Volleyball score big OIA West wins

It was a great night on Wednesday for the Pearl City Chargers  as the baseball team came home with a 9 inning 6-4 win against the Aiea Na Ali’i at Hans L’ Orange Park and the boys volleyball team swept the visiting Kapolei Hurricanes in three sets at Pearl City High School.

CHARGER BASEBALL

The Chargers improved to 2-0 in the OIA Western Division with Devin Hayashi picking up the win in relief. Hayashi pitched the 9th inning allowing no runs, no hits with 1 strikeout.

Eli Oshiro got the start for Chargers pitching 4 innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks.

Drew Boyles pitched 4 innings in relief of Oshiro while allowing 2 runs on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Logan Honma continued his hot bat with key hits and an impressive 3-5 performance at the plate with a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored. Tyson Murakami batted 2-4 with 2 runs scored. Starting pitcher Eli Oshiro batted 1-4 with a RBI. Mark Moreno hit 1-4 with a 6th inning RBI triple.

Aidan Yoshida took the loss for Aiea with a solid performance on the mound for the Na Ali’i. Yoshida pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 5 walks.

Bostan Ujimori and Raine Yoshida pitched in relief for the Na Ali’i.

Brennen Panis hit 2-4 with 1 run scored for the Na Ali’i. Stazz Asing 2-3, RBI; Bostan Ujimori 1-3, run scored.

The Chargers (2-0) return to action on Saturday (3/19) in a big OIA West showdown against Mililani (1-1) at Mililani High School. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00am

CHARGER BOYS VOLLEYBALL

The Chargers pulled even at 1-1 in OIA West volleyball after sweeping the visiting Kapolei Hurricanes in three sets: 25-14, 25-13, 24-20. Fati Seei-Tofi led the Chargers with 9 kills. Keahi Kaneakua 9 kills; Sile Sataraka 8 kills; Tiandrew Taimanao 5 kills; Ethan Long 4 kills; Christian Ronquillio 2 kills.

The Chargers return to OIA West play on Monday (3/21) against the Campbell Sabers at Campbell High School with first serve schedule for 6:00pm
