Pearl City slips past Mililani 2-1, improves to 3-0

Eddie Ogasawara scored the winning run from third base in the bottom of the sixth inning on a pass ball at the plate to carry the Pearl City Chargers over the Mililani Trojans 2-1 yesterday in OIA Western Division baseball played at Mililani High School. With the win, the Chargers improved to 3-0 in league standings.  The Trojans fell to 1-2.

The Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on an RBI double by Kaleb Pongasi. The Chargers scored Mark Moreno from third base on a pass ball at home plate to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning.

Devin Hayashi picked up his second win this week in relief for the Chargers pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing no runs, 1 hit with 1 strikeout. Hayashi also contributed at the plate hitting 2-2 with a run scored.

Dacoda Agoto got the start pitching 4 innings while allowing 1 run, 1 hit with 6 strikeouts.

Shaine Fujii pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief of Agoto allowing no runs, 2 hits with 2 strikeouts.

Mililani starting pitcher Kaleb Pongasi pitched 5 innings allowing 1 run, 4 hits with 3 strikeouts in a no decision.

Kai Hirayama took the loss for the Trojans in relief of Pongasi. Hirayama pitched 1 inning allowing 1 run, 1 hit with no strikeouts.

The Chargers (3-0) return to action in battle of the OIA West undefeated against Campbell (3-0) on Wednesday, March 23 at CORP with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.
