Pearl City opens second round with 13-1 (F/5) win over Kapolei

The Pearl City Chargers blasted past the Kapolei Hurricanes 13-1 (F/5) to open the second round of the OIA Western Division Baseball regular season yesterday at Kapolei High School. The Chargers pounded out 13 hits in the win to remain atop the OIA Western Division league standings at 5-1. The Hurricanes fell to 1-5.

Eli Oshiro earned the win for Pearl City in three innings of work. Oshiro allowed 1 run, 1 hit with 6 strikeouts. Shane Fujii pitched 2 innings in relief allowing no runs, no hits with 4 strikeouts. Oshiro (1-2,  RBI) and Fujii (-1, RBI) also contributed at the plate for the Chargers.

Landen Sanford took the loss for Kapolei. Sanford pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing 7 runs, 5 hits with 3 strikeouts.

Charger bats outhit the Hurricanes 13-1. The Hurricanes picked up their only hit and run of the ball game on a solo home run by Jesiah Chock in the top of the first inning. Dacoda Agoto homered for Pearl City.

The Chargers return to action this Wednesday, April 6 against Aiea at Aiea High School and Friday, April 8 against Mililani at Mililani High School. First pitch is set for 3:00pm for both ball games. Pearl City defeated Aiea 6-4 (9 innings) and Mililani 2-1 in first round action.
