Pearl City opens OIA D2 regular season with 56-34 win over Kaimuki

The Pearl City Chargers kicked off the 2022 OIA D2 varsity football regular season Saturday night with a big 56-34 win on the road against the Kaimuki Bulldogs at Farrington High School.

It was a potent display of offense by both Pearl City and Kaimuki compiling 985 yards of net offense. Kaimuki QB Iosefa Letuli threw for 300 yards completing 16/26 with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Letuli also rushed 10 times for 64 yards and 1 touchdown. Pearl City QB Trey Dacoscos passed for 279 yards completing 19/37 with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Dacoscos also rushed 7 time for 27 yards and 2 touchdowns. Big night in scoring for Dacoscos.

Bulldog running back Ofa Vehikite had a huge game on the ground rushing for 240 yards on 18 carries with 2 touchdowns. Avin Tanioka led Kaimuki in receiving hauling in 5 passes for 129 yards and 1 touchdown. Jeremiah White caught 5 passes for 94 yards and 1 touchdown.

Bradley Kansou led the Chargers in receiving catching 5 passes for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns. Lennon Elder caught 2 passes for 68 yards.

The Chargers return to action on Saturday, August 27 against the McKinley Tigers at Roosevelt High School. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00pm. The Junior varsity plays at Waianae on Friday, August 25 with kick-set for 5:00pm

Pearl City QB Trey Dacoscos passed for 279 yards completing 19/37 with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Dacoscos also rushed 7 time for 27 yards 2 touchdowns.  Dacoscos is pictured scoring his first touchdown of the ball game on a 1 yard run in the first quarter.
