First year Pearl City head coach and longtime Charger assistant coach Eric Arakawa, has brought new energy to the highly successful and respected championship winning soccer program. Coach Arakawa has positioned his team, along with a core of experienced assistant coaches and senior leadership to earn a second seed berth in the upcoming OIA Girls Soccer Championship Playoffs.

Eric Arakawa, Head Coach, Pearl City Chargers Girls Soccer

“Tonight is a big night that will really set us up for success in the playoffs. Overall, the seasons been good. We’ve grown a lot from preseason to now, so we’re happy with a lot of that. We’re lucky that we have such good support from a lot of the coaches that have come back to help. We have probably the biggest staff that we’ve had in a long time. A lot of them are Pearl City grads.

This is a big night for our seniors on senior night. We have 5 seniors who are big contributors to the team. The have huge leadership roles that they take care of and three of them are captains. They’ve been a big help to get the team to buy into what we are doing and keep everyone’s spirits up. One good thing about this whole team is all our kids are good kids. They want to be here with each other, to play with each other.

What we tried to preach to these girls this season is to try and have a calm confidence about them and not get their emotions too high or too low. Do what we do at practice, and we’ll be okay.”

Congratulations to the Chargers and good luck at the OIA Championships!
