It was another classic, dramatic OIA West DI baseball rivalry match-up in OIA West DI Baseball on Saturday as the Aiea Na Ali’i scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 7-7 tie and beat the visiting Pearl City Chargers 8-7 at Aiea High School.
The loss to the Na Ali’i is the second in row for the Chargers who are winless at 0-2 in OIA West DI regular season league standings. The Na Ali’I pulled even at 1-1.
Jonah Takeda earned the win for the Na Ali’i pitching 2/3 innings in the top of the seventh inning. Kobie Corpuz took the loss for the Chargers pitching 1/3 innings while allowing one hit and the winning run for the Na Ali’i.
Jayson Au Hoy batted 2-2 with one RBI and three runs scored for the Chargers. Eliaz Duropan went 1-3 with a double, 2 RBI, and a run scored.
Zion Ishikawa came through big at the plate for the Na Ali’i in the win hitting 1-1 with a two-run double and a run scored.
Aiea will travel to Nanakuli (1-1) to take on the Golden Hawks on Wednesday, March 15 at 3:00pm.
Pearl City will take on the undefeated Campbell Sabers (2-0) on Wednesday, March 15 at Pearl City High School with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.
