Rotary Club of Pearlridge enjoys Vocational Tour and Fine Dining experience at Leeward Community College

Apr 14, 2023 | PC Community

An energetic group of Rotary Club of Pearlridge (RCOP) Board Members led by President Dick Mosko, went on an amazing Vocational Tour to Leeward Community College where members learned about the state-of-art Digital Media Program. LCC Digital Media Program Coordinator, Irwin Yamamoto and staff, gave the RCOP members a tour of the facility studio and production room, as well as familiarized us with the latest in Digital Media and production equipment offered to LCC Digital Media students. We also learned about the different programs of digital media studies and 2 year degrees offered by LCC. It was a great experience.

We could have easily spent a few hours in the Digital Media Program facility with Mr. Yamamoto and staff. It was great to hear of the many LCC Digital Media Program graduates who are working as professionals in their fields of study today in Hawaii and around the world.

THE PEARL fine dining experience

RCOP members followed the Digital Media Vocational Tour with a fantastic fine dining experience at Leeward Community Collège’s award winning “THE PEARL” Restaurant which is managed by the students and instructors from the LCC Culinary Arts Program. Here’s the menu that my RCOP buddies indulged in for lunch. It was the first time I ever enjoyed a “Fine Dining Bento Box”. Pretty cool and delicious too!

BENTO BOX

  • Duck Prosciutto, Maui Onion Puree, Bleu Cheese Fondue, Fuji Apple Gel, Port Wine
  • Butter Poached Hamachi, Chive Risotto, Tarragon Bubu Crust
  • Kanpachi Crudo, Hawaiian Chili and Vanilla Bean Lilikoi Sauce
  • Hawaiian Style Lechon, Sweet Onion, “Poke” Tomatoes
  • Misoyaki Eggplant, Cha-Soba Noodles, Yuzu Ponzu

Dessert – Ube and Caramel Flan

The flavors and quality of ingredients, and presentation was incredible. We truly appreciated the first class service by The Pearl students and their instructors. Mahalo to Colby who was a true professional while serving our meals and drinks. Colby greeted us with a smile and sent us off with a warm hearted Aloha.

Today’s experience is what I personally define as a genuine perk of being a Rotarian while having the opportunity to learn and enjoy from this generation of college students who are in the process of achieving their higher education and career goals. They are an inspiration to us all as we look forward to congratulating and welcoming them into the community as they become professionals, excel in their careers, and hopefully give back with service to their community. (Future Hawaii Rotary District 5000 Rotarians)?

Mahalo to RCOP Board Member Marshall Lum for scheduling another educational, fun, and memorable RCOP Vocational Tour and lunch meeting in our community.

Have a great weekend!
