Pearl City’s Ryley Puahala true OIA champion at 161 lbs., captures second in a row OIA championship crown

Congratulations to Pearl City Charger Ryley Puahala who repeated as Oahu Interscholastic Association Judo 161 lbs. Champion on Saturday at the 2023 OIA Individual Judo Championships held at Leilehua High School. Ryley won by all Ippon throws in an impressive and dominating championship tournament performance that capped his OIA Judo career as a Charger senior. Ryley will also be the #1 ranked judoka at 161 lbs. in the upcoming HHSAA State Judo Championships to be held at the University of Hawaii’s Stan Sheriff Center on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

As Ryley builds upon his legendary legacy at state’s this weekend in battle as a Pearl City Charger, he is a true inspiration to his teammates, coaches, Charger ohana fans and supporters, and friends that he has made through the years in competition. His courage, leadership, hard work, and Heart of a Champion will inspire future generations of Chargers in all sports.
