Mahalo to Naomi Tully-Ungacta, Program Director, Pearl City Foundation, along with PCF Officers and Board of Directors, and amazing PCF staff for presenting and hosting the 1st Annual Pearl City Community Garage Sale on Saturday at the Momilani Community Center (MCC) in Pearl City.

Pearl City Community Garage Sale treasure seekers from Pearl City and around the island shopped amongst dozens of booths filled with clothing, housewares, plants, etc. that were spread out in the Momilani Community Center pavilion, program room, and MCC yard on Saturday. Most importantly, the community had a fun time together on a beautiful and sunny day in May.

The Pearl City Community Garage Sale was also held on Saturday with a special community partnership with the Palisades Community Center who also presented and hosted a garage sale in their community.

Naomi Tully-Ungacta, Program Director, Pearl City Foundation

“We wanted to do a community garage sale, bring the community together, clean out our houses, and have a fun time together. The garage sale came together when we had some friends from the Pearl City Foundation looking to do a fundraiser and give back to the foundation. A few sports teams also reached out looking to do a fundraiser and rent the facility and I told them that it would be a great idea to do a community event so we could all come together.

I thought it would be a great idea to bring others into the Pearl City community by doing a joint event with the Palisades Community Center so it would encourage more garage sale shopping by bringing the Palisades and Momilani areas in Pearl City together for a fun event. We’re only 1.7 miles away from each other, so we’re neighbors. I thought it would be nice to connect with each other and do something together.”

It worked! Great job in making it happen!

Mahalo to Pearl City Lions Club President Tad Tsuruma, and Mana Loa Nimitz Lions Club President Brian Nitta, along with their club members for volunteering their time on Saturday at the 1st Annual Pearl City Community Garage Sale while representing Hawaii Lions District 50 in another fun and interactive community service project in our Pearl City community.

Also, mahal to all the volunteers who came together to help out, the community who manned and offered great items for sale at their garage sale booths, as well as all the neighbors, friends, and special visitors to Pearl City for supporting the event with their purchases.
