Congratulations to Pearl City who won the 2023 Hawaii Little League Intermediate 50/70 State Championship on Monday in Kauai. Pearl City defeated Central East Maui 5-2 behind a one-hit, seven inning complete game by Pearl City ace Ty Takahashi.
Pearl City followed their 2023 Hawaii Little League District 7 Championship win a couple of weeks ago with Monday’s state championship title.
This is a very special, close knit Pearl City team with amazing support from their team ohana of supporters and fans. Led by Manager Ty Takahashi, the team “play as one” and “work hard” for their accomplishments that they share and celebrate together and with their team ohana.
Nicole Takahashi, Fundraiser coordinator, Pearl City 50/70 Intermediate Hawaii State Champions
“This group is super tight. Under Ty’s leadership, they learned how to WORK for what they have and to be who they are. They do this by BONDING, by going through things TOGETHER, and by HELPING EACH OTHER AND THEIR PARENTS.
We fundraise so that we can facilitate team vehicles so they can go to and from games together, for meals to lighten the financial burden of trips off of the parents and encourage the breaking of bread, and to sprinkle a little bit of reward here and there, because they work hard.”
