Chargers roll past Tigers 42-6, move to 4-0 in OIA DII Football league standings

The Pearl City Chargers remained undefeated at 4-0 and atop the OIA DII varsity football regular season standing after blowing past the visiting McKinley Tigers 42-6 last night at Pearl City High School’s Edwin Bino Neves Stadium. McKinley fell to 0-4 in league play.

QB Trey Dacoscos led the potent Chargers offense passing for 219 yards while completing 13-23 with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Chargers back-up QB Jonah Galanto completed 9-13 for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Keaton Tomas and Tobias Vazquez had outstanding performances while leading the Chargers receiving corps and combing for four receiving touchdowns. Tomas caught 6 passes for 120 yards and 1 touchdown. Vazquez hauled in 3 passes for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns. Tayvon-Ching Harrell and Derek Kusano both caught touchdown passes in the ball game.

Shaeden Talo led the Chargers ground game picking up 50 yards on 8 carries.

Tigers QB Iosua Sefo completed 9-14 for 168 yards with 1 touchdown and 4 interceptions. Tanner Hiromasa caught 2 passes for 66 yards and was on the receiving end of a third quarter touchdown pass from QB Iosua Sefo. Mana Lale-Saole caught 2 passes for 50 yards and also led McKinley’s ground game picking up 57 yards on 12 carries.

The Chargers defense had another stellar performance holding the Tigers to 6 points in the ball game.

Pearl City outgained McKinley 410-237 in net offense.

The Chargers return to league play and will celebrate HOMECOMING on Friday, September 22. The Chargers will host the Waialua Bulldogs at Edwin Bino Neves Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 7:30pm.
