The Rotary Club of Pearlridge (RCOP) is well underway presenting free dictionaries to over 800 third graders and their teachers in 14 Aiea and Pearl City schools as a part of their 2023-2024 Hawaii Rotary Dictionary 5000 Project.

It’s such a wonderful feeling with each visit to the third graders classrooms to see their excitement and smiles as each dictionary is personally presenting to them by a truly grateful and proud RCOP member. The success of the RCOP Dictionary 5000 Project grows each year while perpetuating the spirit of Rotary International’s “Four Way Test” that is included in each student’s brand-new dictionary.

The RCOP will return at the end of the school year to award two students from each school with recognition certificates and $50.00 check awards for best exemplifying the Principles of the Rotary International Four Way Test. The RCOP is excited to welcome two new schools and 70 third graders and their teachers from Waimalu Elementary School (Aiea) and Our Lady of Good Counsel School (Pearl City).

Mahalo to RCOP President and PDG Dick Mosko for his leadership while overseeing key club investments that make it possible to purchase and provide the free dictionaries, as well as provide over 28 – $50.00 check awards to the third graders.

Also, mahalo to our dedicated RCOP team members who volunteer their time as dictionary presenters and supporters while also serving as the inspiration to reach our club goals in supporting our youth while enhancing their educational experiences and supporting their needs.

We are also excited to invite and possibly welcome the third graders in a few years to the RCOP Interact Youth Leadership Program. The RCOP is truly unique as we strive to fulfill our mission from our first interaction with the third graders via the RCOP Rotary Dictionary 5000 Project through grade 12 as a Rotary Interact Youth Leadership student.

Mahalo to Momilani Elementary School third grade teachers Mrs. Nakata and Mr. Omine for welcoming the RCOP into their classrooms.
