Mililani’s Tanela Simanu walk off solo homerun lifts the Trojans over Pearl City 10-0 (F/5)

The Mililani Trojans turned up the heat at the plate with three homerun blasts against Pearl City on Thursday in a 10-0 (F/5) shut out win over the Chargers in OIA Western Division I Softball played at Pearl City High School.

Jerrell Mailo, Hinano Bautista, and Tanela Simanu powered game changing homeruns with the game ending homerun by Simanu that sailed over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the fifth inning that forced the 10-run rule and the win for the Trojans.  Mililani served as the home team while Pearl City represented the visiting team at Pearl City High School.

With the win Mililani improved to a league leading 8-1 regular season record while Pearl City remained winless at 0-9.

Mililani starting pitcher Hinano Bautista earned the win for the Trojans pitching 4 complete innings while allowing no runs, 3 hits with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Makayla Pagampao pitched I inning in relief of Bautista in the top of the fifth inning allowing no runs, 1 hit, with no walks and no strikeouts.

Pearl City’s Zsaleh Arias took the loss for the Chargers in 2.6 innings of work for the Chargers. Arias allowed 7 runs, 5 hits, and 9 walks with no strikeouts. Shazarei Hinds pitched 2 innings in relief of Bautista while allowing 3 runs, 4 hits with 5 walks and no strikeouts.

Mililani returns to action against Nanakuli (1-8) on Friday, April 5 at Nanakuli High School with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.

Pearl City will host Kapolei (4-5) on Saturday, April 6 at Pearl City High School with first pitch schedule for 10:00am. The Chargers will also celebrate four seniors during Senior Day ceremonies following the ball game.

While the Trojans talent once again shined through with their outstanding performance on Thursday that put an exclamation mark on their first place standings atop the OIA Western Division I regular season, the Chargers played with all heart and passion to the very last out of the ball game.
