Pearl City headed to State DII Softball Semifinals with 13-7 win over Radford

Pearl City kept their undefeated record alive while moving closer to a State Championship after defeating the Radford Rams 13-7 on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of 2025 HHSAA State Division II Softball Championship Tournament played at the McKinley High School Softball Stadium.

The Chargers (12-0 overall) and Oahu Interscholastic Champion will meet the Waimea Menehune (8-7 overall) from the Kauai Federation Association on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 11:30am at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium on the campus of the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Waimea defeated KS-Hawaii 14-3 on Wednesday in a quarterfinal match-up at Mckinley High School.

#2 Pearl City vs. Waimea semifinal winner advances to face the winner of #1 Kapaa vs. #5 Pac-Five semifinal winner for the 2025 HHSAA State Division II Softball Championship scheduled for Friday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Pearl City’s Haley Shinjo picked up the win for the Chargers pitching 4.0 innings while allowing 6 runs, 5 hits with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. Aleia-Lyn Tonaki Sagucio pitched 3.0 innings in relief for the Chargers while allowing 1 run, 3 hits with 3 strikeouts.

Radford’s Siitia Baughn took the loss for the Rams pitching the first inning while allowing 5 runs, 2 hits with 3 walks and no strikeouts.

The Rams actually outhit the Chargers 11-8 highlighted by Audrey Hoffman’s outstanding performance at the plate hitting 4-4, HR, double, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored.

Pearl City’s Saunette Oshiro once again shined at the plate while hitting 2-3, HR, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Maile Oda batted 3-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Lilyanni Mata hit 2-3, with 2 RBI. Samantha Nakamatsu 1-3, 2 runs scored. Harlyn Barry 1-3, 2 RBI, 1 run scored. Phoenix Sky Lumabao 1-1, 3 runs scored.  Haley Shinjo 1-2.
