At the tournament back in April (Women’s Nationals) in Spokane, Serah placed 6th and earned All American Status. This past weekend’s tournament was the Women’s Nationals Duals in Indiana.  That was a team competition. We struggled as a team because of numbers. We only filled 10 out of 16 weight classes, so we were down from the start in every match. However, our girls did great head to head.

Three girls (Auriana Wakinekona from Kamehameha, Sanairee Hasegawa from Baldwin, and Serah) went undefeated in Freestyle, and made the All Tournament Team. The girls also won the Kristie Davis Sportsmanship award (that was the picture with the plaque). We were able to get her some exhibition matches, often wrestling up a weight class. She had a total of 10 matches in Freestyle, going 10-0.

In Greco she only had one match and three forfeit wins since the other teams didn’t have a 95 pound wrestler. We will be traveling to Colorado Mesa in two weeks for a wrestling camp, then onto Fargo, North Dakota for one of the premier high school national tournaments.  I wanted to thank coaches Sean Salter, Dave Crooke, Stephen Thai, Jill Uyeda, Brandon Mina, and Jon Lum for helping her prepare for the tournaments.

Special thanks to coach Ku’u Robinson and coach Katie Neste for leading team Hawaii up in Indiana. Also, thanks to all her teammates from Pearl City High and O2 Rhinos who pushed her at practice.  Very blessed to have all the support.
