I would like to say a very special mahalo to fellow Mana Loa Nimitz Lions Club community volunteers Dexter, Jahde, Loreto, Wendy and Jay and Lauta from the Kalakaua Lions Club who came together to take the first steps in making the Pearl City High School Community Farm a reality.

Lions volunteers joined Mr. Brian Walker who is the PCHS Community Farm Director, Organizer, Builder and Farming expert to begin work on the Farm. Mr. Walker is also a teacher at PCHS.

Lions volunteers cleared weeds, cane grass and debris along the PCHS Community Farm fenceline located at the PCHS entrance near the Pearl City Cultural Center.

Lions volunteers assisted Mr. Walker in installing weed blocker fabric along the fencline that will host plant beds.

Lions also cleared out wooden pallets and other items spread out on the Farm grounds.

The PCHS Community Farm will be home to a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, flowers, native Hawaiian plants, community green waste collection facility, compost farm, mobile green house structures, learning classroom, and community gathering area.

All produce, flowers, compost, etc. will be sold to the community by volunteers at the PCHS Community Farm. Proceeds will benefit Pearl City High School and the community.

The Mana Loa Nimitz Lions Club is one of the first community organizations to comitt one Saturday of each month to volunteer at the PCHS Community Farm.

Mahalo to Mr. Walker and others who are putting their Heart and Soul into the PCHS Community Farm which is a true blessing for Pearl City High School and the Pearl City community and beyond.
