Mahalo to my fellow Mana Loa Nimitz Lions Club (MLNLC) community volunteers who returned to the Pearl City High School Community Farm on Saturday morning as a part of their commitment to support the new PCHS Farm infrastructure 1-2 Saturday’s a month.
MLNLC volunteers Dexter Aoki, Loreto Dela Crux, Jadhe Mathewson, Jason Y, Mary Villamil (MLNLC supporter) and Joe (Leeward Community Church), joined Brian Walker (PCHS teacher / PCHS Farm manager) on Saturday to provide manpower to clean up and organize a portion of the Farm property in preparation for upcoming infrastructure plans that includes installing irrigation lines, building Green houses, raised vegetable, herbs, flower beds. etc.
Volunteers dug up clumps (roots) of cane grass, cleared grass, weeds, and vines from Farm property fence, moved anf organized old cement blocks, mulch bags, corrugated roof panels, lumber boards and metal fencing poles.
It was a lot of work, but we all got the Saturday morning tasks done in a couple of hours (6:30-8:30am).
Brian and his front loader tractor helped make the job of moving heavier items a lot easier. Thank you Brian!
MLNLC volunteers and support team volunteets will return to the PCHS Farm on Saturday, August 2.
Mahalo!
