Aloha,

This weekend, volunteer, off-duty law enforcement officers from across the state are rising to new heights, to support Special Olympics Hawaii athletes during the organization’s 24th Annual Badges and Buckets fundraiser. The event runs statewide:

  • Maui & Molokai: September 10-12
  • Hilo & Kauai: September 11-13
  • Kona & Oahu: September 12-14
  • Lanai: September 18-19

Law enforcement officers are stationed on 10-foot scaffolds and rooftops at Walmart and other locations across the state, raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics Hawaii. All donations collected from Badges and Buckets directly benefit Special Olympics Hawaii and its work to provide sports, health, leadership, and inclusionary programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round.

Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sports every day around the world. Through programs in sports, health, education, and community building, Special Olympics is changing lives and addressing global injustices, isolation, intolerance, and inactivity faced by people with intellectual disabilities. There is never a fee to any athlete or family to participate in Special Olympics programs.
