Mahalo to the community and their ohana for supporting the Pearl City Shopping Center’s annual Halloween Costume Contest & Trick of Treat Parade held at the shopping center’s upper level near Bank of Hawaii and McDonald’s on Saturday.

This was the first year in over twenty years that the Halloween Costume Contest and Trick or Parade was not held at Chuck E. Cheese due to its recent closing. The open-air shopping center upper level welcomed the addition of Food trucks and Craft Fair to the event which was a huge hit with Halloween Costume Contest and Trick or Treat participants and their families and shopping center patrons.

Mahalo to Lauren Ushijima Mori from 808 Craft & Gitt Fairs who presented and sponsored the Food Trucks and Craft Fair and also donated over $1000.00 in merchandise that was given to Halloween Costume Contest participants, as well as lucky number drawing winners.

Halloween Costume Contest registered participants also had a chance to win cash prizes in several categories with first place winner in the new adult category receiving a $100.00 cash prize. Everyone enjoyed filling their Trick or Treat bags with goodies from participating Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants during the annual Trick or Treat Parade that followed the Halloween Costume Contest.

Balloon creations by Steveo the Clown and Will Wong from Balloon Monsoon, and a trio of strolling Magicians, Ron Ishimura, Kenton Chun and Michael Wong entertained the crowd during the event.

I would like to send a heartfelt mahalo to the Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants Association for sponsoring the annual Halloween Costume Contest & Trick of Treat Parade with their mission of providing a safe and fun venue for the Pearl City community and visitors to our community to enjoy during Halloween at the shopping center.

Also, mahalo to the Pearl City Shopping Merchants Association team that once again made the event a wonderful success.
