I would like to send a desperate message for traffic safety on our roadways, especially this Holiday season as motorists take incredible chances while risking serious injury to others, as well as to themselves.

This past week, I have witnessed a heightened and unthinkable number of dangerous motorists on our roadways from the freeway, Pearl City and Aiea streets, and neighborhoods.

I witnessed drivers running solid red lights to make it through intersections narrowly missing collisions with cars who had the right way. It’s a potentially catastrophic and deadly risk to take.

Also, impatient drivers who cut in and dive bomb into a lane forcing motorists to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision. All of this behavior on our roadways is extremely hazardous and irresponsible.

During this Holiday season, I am calling out to everyone to drive safely and think of other commuters on the roadways and pedestrians on our streets and in crosswalks.

Wishing you a safe and very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
