Pearl City bats heat up, pound out 21 hits in 18-2 (F/4) route of Leilehua

The Pearl City Lady Chargers (1-2) picked up their first win of the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I Softball regular season with a 21 hit,18-2 (F/4) win over the visiting Leilehua Mules (0-3) on Monday at Pearl City High School.

The Lady Chargers powered their way at the plate outhitting the Mules 21-2. Pearl City starting pitcher Haley Shinjo (W) and reliever Lilyanni Mata both pitched 2 complete innings holding the Leilehua battery to 2 hits and 2 runs. Shinjo (3-3, double, 4 RBI, run scored) and Mata (3-4, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored) also shined at the plate for the Lady Chargers.

The Lady Chargers jumped on Leilehua starting pitcher Meadow Tammarine scoring 6 runs in th first inning, 10 runs in the second inning, and 2 runs in the third inning.

Friday’ s win over visiting Leilehua was inspired by outstanding performances at the plate highlighted by Skyler Nakasone’s perfect 4-4 with 3 doubles, RBI, 3 runs scored performance.

The Lady Chargers travel to Waianae High School to take on the Seariders (1-1) on Wednesday, March 18 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.
