The Kapolei Hurricanes and Pearl City Chargers battled in a slugfest with the Lady Hurricanes and Lady Chargers combining for 36 hits and 6 homeruns in the Hurricanes 19-12 win on Wednesday at Pearl City High School.
With the win, Kapolei improved to 3-1 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I Softball regular season standings, while Charges fell below .500 at 2-3 in league standings.
Maya Jelf earned the win for Kapolei in relief of starting pitcher Nalani Jarmillo. Jelf pitched 4 complete innings while allowing 4 hits, 3 runs with 4 walks and no strikeouts. Jaramillo pitched 3 complete innings while allowing 7 hits, 9 runs with 5 walks and 1 strikeout.
Pearl City ‘s Lilyanni Mata took the loss for the Chargers pitching 5 complete innings while allowing 15 hits, 13 runs with 8 walks and 3 strikeouts. Aleia-Lyn Tonaki-Sagucio pitched in 2 complete innings in relief of Mata allowing 10 hits, 6 runs with 2 walks and no strikeouts.
