After losing to the Pearl City Chargers via a no-hit, 4-0 shut-out loss on Friday, the Waianae Seariders pulled off the unexpected by defeating the Chargers 5-3 on Saturday at Pearl City High School.
Pearl City took a 3-0 lead into the top of the sixth inning with everything looking like another shut-out win for the Chargers on a day that would honor and recognize five Seniors during a post-game celebration in front the Chargers ohana.
Waianae outscored Pearl City 2-0 in the final two innings for the thriller, game ending rally and 5-3 win.
The Seariders rebounded from being hitless the day before against the Chargers by pounded out 9 hits highlighted by Desten Napierala’s 2-run homerun on Saturday.
Waianae starting pitcher Kamakoa Grace went the distance to earn the win pitching 8 compete innings while allowing 8 hits, 3 runs with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Naden Nihipali took the loss for the Chargers in relief. Kalen Kao got the start with Ian Wicklund, Cavan Sekigawa joining Nihipali in relief.

With the win, Waianae improved to 2-5 while Pearl City is 6-2 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division I regular season standings.
