Pearl City students continue to receive free dictionaries

 

The Rotary Club of Pearlridge made a special Christmas gift visit to the 3rd grade class at Momilani Elementary School in  Pearl City on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. A group of Pearlridge Rotarian volunteers led by Gordon Arakaki and past President, Roy Matsuo, presented each student with a brand new dicitionary donated by the club.

"We are so privileged to present dictionaries to 3rd graders in our service area . . . for sure, one of our top rated community service projects," said Roy Matsuo. "Active participation in this project gives us that "feel great" / heart warming sense of what Rotary's role is in our Community!"

The dictionary presentation to Momilani Elementary School was the second visit in December to schools that are scheduled to receive free dictionaries during the the 2010-2011, Rotary Club of Pearlridge community service projects calendar year.

Third graders from Webling Elementary School in Aiea received their dictionaries on December 8th. Lehua Elementary School in Pearl City is scheduled for January 13, 2011 with both Waiau Elementary and Palisdades Elementary to follow.

Pearlridge Rotarians, Doreen Higa, Dick Mosko, Rick Lau, Gordon Arakaki, Barry Villamil and Ambassadorial Scholar, Robbie Adams participated in the dictionary presentation to Momilani Elementary School on Tuesday, December 14.

Mahalo to Principal Higa (fellow Rotarian), Momilani 3rd grade teachers, Ms. Leona Uyesato, Ms. Helen Fujikawa and Mr. Masaru Uchino for welcoming the Rotarian volunteers into their classrooms and for the wonderful lei and thank you poster presented to the group.
