Pearl City dominates Waianae 43-25, heads to OIA D2 Girls Basketball Championship

Congratulations to the Pearl City Chargers who overwhelmed the visiting Waianae Seariders last night 43-25 to advance to next week’s Oahu Interscholastic Association D2 Girls Varsity Basketball Championship. The Chargers will take on the Kaiser Cougars for the championship. Kaiser defeated Aiea 36-26 Friday night in the semifinals to earn their way to the OIA Championship against the Chargers.

Pearl City top gun Riya Tobosa led all scorers with 19 points, scoring close to her season average of 20.6 per game. Trinidad Gonzalez Salazar scored from long range pumping in 15 points while hitting five 3-pointers for the Chargers. Demitris Brooks led the Seariders with 11 points (2- 3PM).

#1Pearl City vs. #2 Kaiser OIA D2 Championship Game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 5:30pm at Moanalua High School. The OIA D1 Championship will follow the D2 Championship. Both Championship matchups will be televised live on Spectrum OC16.
