LADY CHARGERS WIN OIA D2 BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP!

Congratulations to the Pearl City Lady Chargers who brought home another Oahu Interscholastic Association D2 Girls Basketball Championship last night by defeating the Kaiser Cougars 30-24 in front of a packed gymnasium at McKinley High School.

The Lady Chargers played their hearts out overcoming  a third quarter deficit to take control in the fourth quarter and pull off the OIA Championship victory. It was the Lady Chargers second OIA D2 Championship (2023) under Head Coach Kyle Martin and third overall for Pearl City High School Girls Basketball Program.

Congratulations to Pearl City’s Kyrie Chen who led the Lady Chargers with 10 points and was also named the Spectrum OC16 Impact Player of the Game for her outstanding performance in the Championship win. Trinidad Gonzalez Salazar dropped in 9 points from long range on three – 3 pointers. Riya Tobosa pumped in 8 points for the Lady Chargers.

Kaiser’s Lylamarie Moura led all scorers with 12 points.

The OIA D2 Champion Lady Chargers head off to the HHSAA State Division 2 Girls Basketball Championships scheduled for February 4-7 at the Hilo Civic Center on the Big Island. Seeding and championship playoff schedule TBA.
