The Pearl City Chargers improved to a perfect 3-0 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division I league play after defeating the visiting Aiea Na Ali’i 16-2 (F/5) on Thursday at Pearl City High School. The Na Ali’i remained winless at 0-3.
Pearl City starting pitcher Talon Paahao earned the win for the Chargers pitching 3 innings while allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Kysen Hueu and Tytan Takahashi both pitched an inning each in relief.
Dallas Irwin took the loss for Aiea with Kailer Gervacio and Cooper Sparks pitching in relief for the Na Ali’i.
All pitchers battled through the rainy weather that dropped on the field throughout the game.
The Chargers outhit the Na Ali’i 14-4 with winning pitcher Talon Paahao hitting 2-2, triple, 3 RBI, run scored, and outstanding performances at the plate by Ian Wicklund (2-2, double, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored), and David Englar (1-3, double, RBI, 2 runs scored).

The Chargers and Na Ali’i will play the second game of their regular season series on Saturday, March 21 at Hans L ‘Orange Field in Waipahu with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm. The game will be televised live on Spectrum OC16.
