Pearl City blanks Aiea 5-0, improves to 5-1

The Pearl City Chargers cruised their way to a 5-0 shut out win over the Aiea Na Ali’i on Tuesday at Aiea High School to improve to 5-1 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division I Baseball regular season standings. Aiea fell to 2-5 in league standings. The Chargers completed a 2-game series sweep over the Na Ali’i.

The Chargers were in control through seven innings of play with a strong performance by starting pitcher Imipono Kala and solid relief from Cohen Adaro. Kala pitched 5 complete innings while allowing 4 hits, no runs with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Adaro pitched 2 complete innings while allowing 3 hits, no runs with no walks and 2 strikeouts.

Braxton Goo got the start for Aiea pitching 4 complete innings while allowing 5 hits, 2 runs with 2 walks and no strikeouts. Dallas Irwin pitched in relief of Goo while allowing 6 hits, 3 runs with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.

Pearl City bats remained hot at the plate with Cohen Adaro getting the Chargers on the scoreboard after powering a top of the second inning solo homerun to right field. David Englar went 2-3 with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored.
