PEARL CITY DEFEATS PREVIOUSLY UNBEATEN MILILANI 5-4

Mahalo to MyPearlCity.com Sports contributor JORDEN YAMAMURA for capturing the final out of the Chargers 5-4 win over the Mililani Trojans Monday afternoon at Mililani High School.

Pearl City handed Mililani (7-1) their first loss of the OIA Western Division I Baseball regular season on Monday after defeating the Trojans 5-4. Pearl City sits ½ game behind league leading Mililani at 7-2.

Both teams will battle in the second game of their 2 game regular season series on Tuesday at Pearl City High School. First pitch is set for 3:00pm.

Pearl City starting pitcher Imipono Kala earned the win for the Chargers pitching 4 2/3 innings while allowing 5 hits, 2 runs with 4 walks and 1 strikeout. Chaz Villarin, Kysen Hueu, and Ian Wicklund pitched in relief for the Chargers.

Mililani’s Ajay Moss took the loss for the Trojans pitching 5 1/3 innings while allowing 3 hits, 5 runs with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts. Xavier Sawa pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief for the Trojans allowing 2 hits, no runs with 1 walk and no strikeouts.

Tuesday’s Chargers vs. Trojans match-up will determine who will sit atop the OIA Western Division I standings as the regular season winds down and a Champion will soon be crowned.
