Lady Chargers blow out Lady Surfriders 25-8 (F/4) to open 2026 OIA Division I Softball Championship Playoffs

Congratulations to the W4 Pearl City Lady Chargers who dominated the E5 Kailua Lady Surfriders 25-8 yesterday afternoon in the opening round of the 2026 OIA Division I Softball Championship Playoffs played at Kaala Elementary Field in Wahiawa.

The Lady Chargers advanced to today’s quarterfinals against the E1 Moanalua Lady Menehune at Moanalua High School. First pitch is set for 3:00pm. Today’s winner will earn a spot in the state tournament and advance to the OIA semifinals to face the winner of W2 Kapolei vs. E3 Kaiser.

Pearl City’s Haley Shinjo picked up the win over Kailua pitching 3 complete innings while allowing 5 runs, 4 hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Aleia-Lyn Tonaki-Sagucio pitched 1 complete inning in relief while allowing 3 runs, 3 hits with no walks and 1 strikeout.

Kailua’s Kailee Kalama took the loss pitching 2 complex innings while allowing 18 runs, 7 hits with 10 walks and no strikeouts. Caydence Kauhi pitched 1 complete inning in relief while allowing 7 runs, 2 hits with 5 walks and 1 strikeout.
