I enjoyed joining my fellow Mana Loa Nimitz Lions Club members early Saturday morning at 6:30 a.m. to volunteer at the Aiea Stream Garden. Representing both the Aiea and Pearl City communities, our MLNLC volunteers regularly take part in environmentally oriented service projects that beautify neighborhoods and build community pride.
On Saturday morning, we spread out along the stream and roadside to clean up and beautify the area. Our work included trimming tree branches, removing tree stumps and cane grass, pulling weeds, raking and bagging green waste, and watering plants.
It is also exciting to see the Aiea Stream Garden Crown flower trees beginning to flourish. They will soon become the Mana Loa Nimitz Lions Club Butterfly Garden for everyone to enjoy.
Mahalo to Lions Dexter, Marvi, Jason, Brian, Sam, Patrick, and Dennis, whom I joined for another successful and rewarding community service project in Aiea.
