I mentioned to a friend many years ago that I would like to plant Blue Ginger in my yard. That friend was Jits Fujimoto, a beloved Pearl City community leader and special friend to everyone.
Jits was also an amazing gardener with an abundance of plants, native Hawaiian plants, and fruit trees growing in his backyard.
Jits drove up to my house shortly after I shared my desire to grow Blue Ginger and dropped off a pot of Blue Ginger that he had propagated from his home garden. Jits came me through with his huge heart of giving to others. On this occasion, I was once again the recipient of his kindness and wonderful friendship.
Jits passed a couple of years ago and I always think of him with every Blue Ginger blossom blessed upon my garden.
I would also like to send my prayers of gratitude to Jits who is a U. S. Army Veteran and as we honor his service along with generations of U.S. Veterans on Memorial Day.
Their service and sacrifice in times of war and peace has kept us safe and secure to live as free Americans at home and around world.
Thank you Jits…God Bless…
