Due to the closing last year of Chuck E. Cheese Restaurant, and decline in participation, the Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants Association will no longer hold its annual Halloween Costume Contest and Trick or Treat Parade. The Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants Association has presented and sponsored the annual event for a few decades. At its height of popularity, the annual Halloween Costume Contest and Trick or Treat Parade hosted over three hundred keiki and their ohana per event while offering great prizes, fun and lifelong memories. Last year’s event fell to fifty keiki participants while being held outdoors on the upper level of the shopping center near Bank of Hawaii.

Mahalo to the thousands of keiki and their ohana who participated and enjoyed the annual Halloween Costume Contest and Trick or Treat Parade through the years and also had an opportunity to win fantastic cash prizes as a costume contest contestant that were generously donated by the Pearl City Shopping Center Merchants Association.

Mahalo to all of the volunteers who put their Heart and Soul each year into making sure everyone had a great time from costume contest check-in registration, judging, awards ceremony, and Trick or Treat Parade around the shopping center visiting participating Pearl City Shopping Center merchants for special treats.

Also, mahalo to Sheri Rolf from Rolf Advertising who coordinated the annual Halloween Costume Contest and Trick or Treat Parade for many years. Mahalo to Irwin Santos, Events Coordinator, Pearl City Shopping Center, who took over Sheri’s role after she stepped down due to illness. We miss Sheri dearly. We are in good hands with Irwin leading the shopping center’s events coordination team.
