3rd Annual K. Mark Takai Family Fun Day (9/8/2018)

Sep 13, 2018

I would like to thank everyone who helped make our 3rd Annual K. Mark Takai Family Fun Day a great time this on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Momilani Community Center in Pearl City. My fellow Pearl City Community Association (PCCA) Board Members once again worked hard to present and sponsor the day that honored our beloved K. Mark Takai and the wonderful Takai ohana. Mahalo to Aaron Tominaga and Chaz Mihara for an outstanding job as event emcees.

The PCCA was blessed to have the Takai ohana in attendance along with Governor David Ige, First Lady Dawn Amano-Ige and area legislators who were colleagues as well as longtime friends with Mark and his family. Mahalo to the amazing talents of Aloha Hula, and Gensen Rabacal who entertained the crowd on Saturday.

The Pearl City Community Association also presented the 1st Annual PCCA Teacher Grant Awards to the following Pearl City Complex teachers:

Jennifer Baltero, Pearl City Elementary
Janice Lee, Pearl City Highlands Elementary
Joy Chung, Kanoelani Elementary
Serena Shimabukuro, Manana Elementary
Shanice Cambra, Lehua Elementary

A very heartfelt mahalo goes out to Breene Harimoto and Naomi Tully-Ungacta from the Pearl City Foundation and the Momilani Community Center for hosting our 3rd Annual Mark Takai Family Fun Day. Also, mahalo to the dozens of Pearl City High School students who volunteer their time each year to help with the event set-up, breakdown, and to run the keiki games tent.

We are also grateful to our food and beverage vendors, pony rides and petting zoo company, as well as the Aiea PTSO who generously donated keiki games and also participated as a food vendor.

Mahalo to the Pearl City Shopping Center and Cherry on Top for the gift certificates donation.

Most of all, mahalo to our community and their ohana for making the day a success in honor of the memory and contributions of K. Mark Takai to our community, state, and country.
