Pearl City over Waialua 8-5 in first round of Hawaii Little League D7 Majors Championship Tournament (7/3/2015)

Pearl City beat Waialua 8-5 in extra innings on Friday, July 3, 2015 in the first round of the Hawaii Little League District 7 Majors Championship Tournament played at Central Oahu Regional Park in Waipio.

Pearl City broke a 2-2 tie with a six run rally in the
top of seventh inning to take an 8-2 lead.

Trevor Yoneyama stroked a bases loaded 2-RBI single in the top of the seventh inning scoring Taryn Fujioka and Taylor Au to break the tie and put Pearl City ahead 4-2.

Waialua battled back scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning, but came up short at 8-5.

Micah Obara earned the win in relief for Pearl City. Easton Fujioka pitched the final out in the bottom of the seventh for the save.

Pearl City will play the winner of Saturday’s (July 4) Waipio vs. Ewa game on Sunday at 9:00am.

Waialua takes on Waipahu in the loser’s bracket at 12:00pm.

Waipahu dropped their first round opener on Friday to Ewa 12-2.
