PEARL CITY VS. KAIMUKI ENDS IN 14-14 TIE (8.20.2022)

The Pearl City Chargers and Kaimuki Bulldogs tangled Saturday afternoon in an OIA D2 Junior Varsity Football early season match-at Farrington High School with the Bulldogs coming from behind late in the fourth quarter to tie the game and go on to stun the Chargers with a 14-14 final score.

Kaimuki opened it up scoring a touchdown to pull within two points of the Chargers at14-12 with 1:31 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs tied the game on a 2-point conversion pass fired into the end zone that went through the hands of the intended Bulldog receiver and landed in the hands of another receiver in heavy traffic in the back of the end zone. The Bulldogs got the ball back after picking off Pearl City QB Ikaika Torres. The Bulldogs brought the ball down to around the three-yard line with 10 seconds left in the ball game but couldn’t get a play off in time before the game clock expired.

It was a hard-fought contest between two storied OIA football programs. Great game!
