Rough Riders power past Chargers 49-14 (10.5.18)

The Roosevelt Rough Riders interrupted the Pearl City Chargers undefeated regular season and Homecoming/Senior Night after pounding out a 49-14 win on Friday, October 5, 2018 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Division 2 varsity football played at Edwin Bino Neves Stadium.

The Rough Riders out gained the Chargers 470-182 in net offense with Rough Riders QB Sky Ogata leading the way with 107 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air and 195 yards on 9 carries with 4 touchdowns on the ground. Mitchell Camacho picked up 151 yards on 14 carries with one touchdown.

On defense, Marcus Hee and Jason Hur both recorded an INT apiece for the Rough Riders.

On offense for the Chargers, QB Micah Quillopo-Jamile completed 8/13 passes for 86 yards and an interception. Thomas King caught 6 passes for 53 yards. Tex Kang rushed for 34 yards on 6 carries.

The Chargers scored their two touchdowns on a 1 yard run by Shayden Mcmoore at 11:56 of the second quarter and 1 yard run by Christian Tielu at 2:33 of the third quarter. Kyle Hyun converted both PAT’s.

The Rough Riders took a 42-7 lead at the half.

The Chargers (6-1, 6-3 overall) will close out the regular season against the Kaimuki Bulldogs on Saturday, October 14 at Farrington High School. The Bulldogs are currently undefeated in league standings at 5-0, 5-2 overall. The Bulldogs will take on Kalaheo (2-3, 2-6 overall) tonight at Kailua High School.

The Chargers also bid Aloha to 30 seniors last night as they played in their last regular season home game of their careers.
