Big Gun of the West, Helemanu shuts out Mililani 6-0 (3/28/2018)

Mar 28, 2018

The Pearl City Chargers defeated the Mililani Trojans 6-0 in Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I baseball behind a complete game, one hit, outstanding performance by Charger ace Cade Halemanu on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Mililani High School.

In a reversal of fortune, the Chargers avenged a 6-0 shut-out loss to the Trojans on March 2. Halemanu went the distance allowing no runs, on one hit with nine strikeouts and one walk in seven innings on the hill for the Chargers.

Cole Mayeshiro took the loss for the Trojans. Charles Winchester and Tanner Moran pitched in relief for the Trojans.

Pearl City improved to 6-2 while Mililani fell to 5-3 in league play.

The Chargers will be gunning for a sweep, with first place at stake, of the visiting Campbell Sabers on Friday, March 30 at Pearl City High School. Campbell sits atop the OIA Western Division I standings at 7-1 with the only blemish on their regular season record coming at the hands of the Chargers in a 3-1 (12 innings) loss on March 7 at Campbell High School.

If Pearl City beats Campbell, they will complete a regular season sweep of the Sabers and a tie for first place at 7-2.

The Chargers split the regular season with Mililani, while Campbell swept the Trojans. If Campbell beats Pearl City and earns a split, the Sabers will remain in first place of the division at 8-1 with three games remaining in round two of the regular season.

It’s going to be an exciting stretch to end the regular season with top seedings at stake in the upcoming OIA tournament championships.
